Waxing removes hair from the root for smooth skin that lasts up to four weeks. We use warm Lycon wax, which is gentler on sensitive skin than strip wax, for face and body waxing at our Haverhill salon and NU Studio in Kedington, with pre- and aftercare advice so you get the most comfortable result. Lycon is a premium warm wax that wraps around even short, fine hair and lifts it from the root at a lower temperature than traditional strip wax, so it is kinder to reactive and sensitive skin and tends to leave less redness behind. To get the cleanest result, let your hair grow to around a centimetre, roughly two to three weeks since you last shaved or waxed, and avoid retinoids and strong active skincare on the area for a few days beforehand, as they can leave the skin more sensitive. Afterwards, your skin will be a little more open and delicate for a day or two, so it is best to avoid heat, saunas, swimming pools, sunbeds, exfoliation and tight clothing for 24 to 48 hours, then start gently exfoliating again to keep ingrown hairs at bay.

Frequently asked questions
How long does hair need to be for waxing?
About a centimetre, or roughly two to three weeks of growth. Avoid shaving in between so the wax can grip the hair effectively.
How long does waxing last?
Most people stay smooth for about three to four weeks as the hair grows back. With regular waxing the regrowth often becomes finer and sparser over time.
Does waxing hurt?
There is some discomfort, especially the first time, but our warm Lycon wax is gentler than strip wax and the sensation passes quickly. It tends to ease the more often you are waxed, as the hair grows back finer.
Can I be waxed during pregnancy?
Yes, waxing is generally considered safe during pregnancy. Your skin can be a little more sensitive than usual, so just let your therapist know you are expecting and we will keep you comfortable.
